Closed church in Hensall may get new life

The owner of the pharmacy in Hensall has made an offer to purchase the United Church in the village.

The church closed in November because the congregation had shrunk significantly over the last few years.

Michael Haddad said the building is structurally sound but believes an inspection might be a good idea just so he knows what repairs might be necessary in the future.

He added the price of $250,000 is reasonable and if he has to put in a bit more for repairs, he'll do it.

His vision is to open it up to all denominations and arrange to have guest ministers from other denominations come in.

Haddad said he would like to open the church to youth games and activities, and it might be an opportunity to start a youth Bible class.
