Ice pellets and freezing rain in Monday forecast

A freezing rain warning has been issued for Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth and Wellington counties.

Light snow or ice pellets will affect the area Monday morning and into the afternoon, but any accumulations should be limited to a few centimetres at most. Locally slippery conditions are possible and there will be a very strong southeast wind.

A more significant area of precipitation is expected to move into the area this evening.  A few hours of freezing rain are possible before precipitation changes to rain later in the evening, particularly over higher elevation areas such as the Dundalk Highlands.

Freezing rain amounts are expected to be fairly light.  However, untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery.

There is also a risk of power outages because of ice on tree branches and hydro lines.
