West Grey man faces second-degree murder charge

A West Grey man appears in Walkerton court Monday to face a charge of second-degree murder.

Ronald Seifried, 57, was charged Saturday with the murder of 53-year-old Steven Berfelz of Brockton.

Berfelz was found badly injured Friday afternoon at a home along a concession road in East Brant in Brockton.  He was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Seifried appeared via video in the Ontario Court of Justice in London Saturday and will appear in Walkerton court Monday.

An OPP investigation continues.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
