Wingham man pleads guilty in murder case

A 57-year-old Wingham man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 25 years for first-degree murder.

Kevin Carter pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a Goderich court.

Marian and Doug Fischer were killed in their Bluevale area home in March of last year.

As part of the plea deal, Carter will serve concurrent sentences of life in prison with no parole for 25 years.

Carter was also sentenced to life for the kidnapping and forcible confinement of his former girlfriend, Gail Fischer.

That sentence will also be served concurrently with the two murder convictions.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
