Two charged in ditched stolen pickup in West Perth

Perth County OPP officers encountered more than they expected when responding to a call about a pickup truck in a ditch.

A concerned resident called the detachment at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday to report a vehicle in a ditch in West Perth.

Responding officers determined that the pickup had been stolen from Huron East.  A man and woman were taken into custody at the scene and police conducted a further investigation.

Shawn Tinning, 33, of Stratford has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime Over $5,000, possessing counterfeit money, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Shalene Peters, 31, of North Middlesex is also charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possessing counterfeit money.

Both are scheduled to appear in court in Stratford next month.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
