Fentanyl seized in Owen Sound investigation

An Owen Sound couple face charges after police seized $3,600 worth of fentanyl.

It was part of a trafficking investigation by the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Criminal Investigations Branch.

The blue coloured fentanyl, which is typically more toxic, was allegedly for the purpose of trafficking.

The substance is similar in appearance to fentanyl that has been associated with several recent overdose incidents in the City of Owen Sound and the surrounding area.

Owen Sound police didn't release names,  but a 37-year-old man and 32-year-old woman are charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, and driving a motor vehicle while prohibited, suspended and without insurance as required.

The two were released from custody and will have to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.
