Arrest made in Collingwood murders

A Collingwood man has been charged with murder.

According to the OPP, an altercation occurred at a residence on Georgian Blue, formerly known as Matthew Way, shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in Collingwood.

Two people were found dead in the residence. Their names have not been released, pending positive identification.

Cameron Gardiner, 57, of Collingwood has been charged with two counts of second degree murder. He is currently being held for bail with a scheduled court date of January 29 in Barrie.

It is believed a third person accompanied the two deceased individuals to this location. That person fled the scene, and has not been identified by police.

The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Central Region Crime Unit as well as the OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
