Goderich committee to provide input on council remuneration

A public committee will decide if councillors in Goderich should get a pay raise.

Mayor John Grace says council agreed to create a committee of community members and probably the town's treasurer to make the decision rather than leave it up to administration and council.

Grace says Goderich councillors have not received an increase in their remuneration since 2009.

A survey by staff of council remuneration for area municipalities of similar size found that Goderich was slightly below the average.

The committee is expected to report to council in a month or two.
