Facebook post on attempted child abduction in Owen Sound false

Police in Owen Sound have concluded an investigation into a social media post about a reported child abduction in the city.

On Sunday, a social media entry was made on Facebook regarding an attempted child abduction that had allegedly involving people operating a black vehicle with tinted windows.

The Facebook post had more than 400 interactions, 250 comments, and was shared more than 1,300 times.

The Criminal Investigations Branch has completed its investigation and has determined that the incident did not happen as reported.

The Owen Sound Police Service has not received any information about an attempted child abduction since investigating the Facebook post.
