Owen Sound police charge man with fentanyl trafficking

Owen Sound police have seized blue fentanyl and charged a man with drug trafficking.

The Drug Enforcement Unit concluded an investigation by arresting a 25-year-old local man of no fixed address.

Police say a suspect was found in possession of highly toxic blue fentanyl with a street value of approximately $2,800. This fentanyl is similar in appearance to fentanyl that was seized by the Drug Enforcement Unit last week. And police said the toxic substance is believed to be linked to recent overdose incidents in Owen Sound.

The accused is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with multiple court orders.

A second Owen Sound male was also charged in the investigation with committing a theft from a downtown store and failing to comply with multiple court orders.

Both accused males were detained in police custody and had bail hearings scheduled for Friday.
