World Wetlands Day presentations in Seaforth and Bayfield libraries

This Saturday is World Wetlands Day, but two Huron County library branches are hosting events on Friday.

Angela Van Niekerk with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority said there's a presentation at the Bayfield Public Library Friday afternoon for five to 12-year-olds, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p. The theme for that one is "Celebrate the Importance of Wetlands".

The Seaforth Public Library is hosting an event Friday afternoon called "Backyard Nature", and that runs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Van Niekerk said the goal for both events and for the World Wetlands Day is to raise the awareness of wetlands and how valuable they are in preventing erosion and improving water quality and easing the impact of climate change.
