Young children hospitalized after pileup crash in Perth County

Four people, including three children, have been rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash south of Listowel.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday just before 2:45 p.m., an SUV was travelling east in whiteout conditions on Perth Line 72 when it collided head-on with a westbound pickup truck. Four other vehicles then collided with the first two, including a school bus filled with students from a local high school.

Three children who were in the SUV, aged one, three, and four, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As of 10 p.m., the three were listed in stable condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

None of the students on the school bus were injured.

Perth Line 72 is expected to remain closed east of Donegal until around 11 p.m. to allow officers to conduct an investigation.
