An Owen Sound man wants to use some of his lottery winnings to set up a foundation for local health care and the hospice.
Jason Goreski was the lone winner of the $33,396,099 Lotto-649 prize on February 2.
"I really want to give back to some of the things we have used in the past with my dad being sick," the 48-year old said. "We used the hospital services a great deal."
Goreski said they are currently in the process of setting up the foundation.
As for the win, Goreski said he checked his numbers while waiting for his girlfriend as they got ready to go look at some cottages. Once he found out his numbers matched he had her check them then called one of his sons to come over and check as well.
"You spend the next few days wrestling with yourself whether it is real or not," said Goreski. "Double checking, triple checking, getting family to check and double check and triple check. That's basically how the week unfolded. Then I started contacting my lawyer, my accountant, trying to get some sort of a game plan."
Goreski said he is hoping to get back to a routine this week because, despite the win, he still has a business to run. It is a heating and cooling business in Owen Sound called Gas Plus which is being expanded.
"That is going to be my immediate focus is the expansion. I have a great team, a great staff and everybody's really excited about the move," added Goreski.
And while Goreski says he was looking at cottages before the win, he would like to get a boat.
