Hawks sweep the Spitfires in Yeck Division quarterfinal

The Exeter Hawks swept their Yeck Division quarterfinal series with a 3-1 win over Aylmer last night.

Carter McLlwain opened the scoring just over six minutes into the second period. Nick Sammons put the Hawks up 2-0 with a goal late in the middle frame.

Max Bannon made it a 3-0 game early in the third. Erik Scherer put the Spitfires on the board just before the midway point of the final period.

McLlwain and Sammons led the Hawks with a goal and and an assist each. Derek Smith set up two for Exeter.

The Hawks will play the winner of the Dorchester/Mt. Brydges series. The Dolphins lead that series 3-1. Game 5 is Friday night.

OHL preseason game in Watford sold out

The matchup between the London Knights and Erie Otters is taking place on Saturday at 4 p.m., and is a fundraiser for upgrades to the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre.
