Slippery and slushy in parts of Midwestern Ontario

Blowing snow is hampering drivers in our region on Friday.

A strong westerly wind is whipping up freshly fallen snow, and visibility is reduced at times. Strongest wind gusts are near Lake Huron and over the Bruce Peninsula.

Roads are slushy and icy, with snow-packed sections.

Very icy back roads triggered a number of school bus cancellations this morning in parts of Perth, Huron, and southern Bruce-Grey. There were some school closures.

Drivers should allow extra time to reach their destination. Conditions will slowly improve Friday evening as the wind eases, and flurries taper off.
