Owen Sound businessman dies on Mexican trip

The Owen Sound community is saddened to learn of the passing of a well-known businessman.

Family members confirmed Andy Van Dolder died in his sleep on a business trip to Mexico.

Mr. Van Dolder operated Van Dolder's Custom Interiors with his two sons on the east side of Owen Sound.

Longtime friend Rob Dutton said his sudden passing is a shock.

"He was a wonderful supporter of the community, did lots of really good initiatives for the community. He's really gonna be missed," said Dutton.

Van Dolder was an avid snowmobiler and along with Dutton and the East Side Snowmobile Club organized the Georgian Cup Snowmobile Races.

"Andy was synonymous with snowmobile racing in Owen Sound for years. He was well known throughout the snowmobile racing community, a very successful racer himself along with his nephew and it carried on as a family tradition.   He was one of the main reasons that the Georgian Cup enjoyed the success that it did," said Dutton.

Van Dolder was inducted into the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
