Grey County OPP warn of dangerous waterways this weekend

Grey County OPP officers are warning that the spring-like temperatures, rain, and melting snow expected this weekend could create hazardous conditions along watercourses.

Ice conditions can change dramatically and could be life-threatening should a person fall into extremely cold water.

Police remind everyone to be careful and use caution near waterways, lakes, ponds and ditches this time of year.

With students off from school on March Break, it's important to supervise children and help them understand the dangers of playing near creeks, streams and ponds.

Outdoor enthusiasts such as snowmobilers, anglers and hikers also need to be aware of potentially dangerous conditions that could be a risk to their personal safety.
