Several injured after horse-drawn buggy and school bus collide

Six people were taken to hospital following a crash Thursday afternoon between a school bus and a horse-drawn buggy in Arran-Elderslie.

South Bruce OPP said that shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, emergency crews responded to the collision on Concession 10 Elderslie and Sideroad 5 Elderslie.

All five occupants of the buggy were hurt in the crash with two suffering life-threatening injuries; one was airlifted to hospital and the other was taken by ambulance.

The remaining three people in the buggy were taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the school bus was also taken to hospital for assessment.

There were students on the school bus at the time, but no other injuries have been reported.

The West Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team is assisting South Bruce OPP with the collision investigation.
