South Huron councillor interested in policing options

A South Huron councillor would like to see if the City of Stratford is interested in providing policing to his municipality.

Ted Oke said Stratford is now providing policing for Perth South, and he's like to determine if there was any interest in the city expanding it's policing to South Huron.

"With the discussions that have been going on with the Exeter detachment and whether it's going to close or not and the new police station in Clinton, I just thought it might be prudent for us to explore other alternatives," he said.

Oke said he plans to bring a motion forward at South Huron's next council meeting.

"At this point in time it would be too early to suggest there'd be any benefits to South Huron, but I thought it was worth our while to investigate and just to see if there was any other opportunities for South Huron," said Oke.
