South Huron looks to young people for strategy

South Huron has received a grant from the Rural Ontario Institute to hire a Youth Engagement intern.

Community Services Manager Scott Currie explains they hope the internship will help council identify blind spots to make the community more appealing to young people as a place to live and work.

It's also meant to build some interest in working for a municipal government, trying to build a pipeline of qualified candidates.

Currie says they view the position as a catalyst to start a conversation that will help develop a strategy. The internship will run until the end of September.
