Siskins advance to Cherrey Cup Final

The Listowel Cyclones now know who they will play for the Cherrey Cup. The Waterloo Siskins advanced to the GOJHL Midwest Conference Final with a 5-2 win over Stratford in Game 6.

Michael Keating opened the scoring for the Siskins just 41 seconds into the game. Nick Jung tied it for the Warriors with a successful penalty shot just past the midway point of the second. Alex Lycett put the Siskins ahead less than a minute later with a power play goal to make it 2-1 Waterloo heading into the third.

Dylan Lebold tied the game again for the Warriors midway through the third. Winston Cestnick scored the go-ahead goal at 15:26 of the final frame and Owen Lane added insurance just over a minute later. Matthew Prucha extended the Siskins lead with an empty netter with just over three minutes left to play.

Matt Onuska earned the win with 41 saves. Zack Weir stopped 26 shots for the Warriors.

The schedule for the Cherrey Cup final has not been set.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
