Hanover police investigating possible drug deaths

The Hanover Police Service is actively investigating two suspected drug overdose deaths, which occurred in a span of three days.

The first was discovered on March 18 just after the noon hour. Police were called to a home in the 300 block of 9th Street to check on the wellbeing of a 59-year-old man. He was found dead.

Then on March 21 just after 3 p.m., Hanover police were called to a home in the 300 block of 10th Street for a 36-year-old man in medical distress.    The man was transported to Hanover and District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Both deaths are being treated as possibly drug-related and investigators are waiting for the results of toxicology tests.

Hanover police are urging the public not to be tempted to take any illegal drugs as it is impossible to know what they are made of, where they have come from, or what effects they may have.
