OHL: Guelph and London take big leads in their first round series

Guelph 6 Kitchener 3

Nick Suzuki struck twice and set up another as the Guelph Storm doubled Kitchener 6-3 to take a 3-0 lead in their first round OHL playoff series.

It was a goal tender duel with Anthony Popovich coming out on top with 37 saves. Luke Richardson stopped 38 of the 43 shots he faced.

Alexey Toropchenko's goal at 6:15 of the second would stand as the game winner. Isaac Ratcliffe, Nate Schnarr and Dmitri Samorukov also scored for the Storm.

Jonathan Yantsis struck twice for Kitchener and Joseph Garreffa also scored for the Rangers.

Kitchener was up 2-1 just 37 seconds into the second before Guelph scored four times in six minutes to take the lead.

London 6 Windsor 3

Adam Boqvist scored four times -- three on the power play -- in the London Knight's 6-3 win over Windsor. The Knights now lead that series 3-0.

Like the Rangers, the Spitfires also coughed up a one goal lead. Two of Boqvist's goals came in the third including a power play goal at 8:09 and the game winner at 13:07.
