Missing 75-year-old found safe in Bruce Peninsula bush

A five-hour search for a missing man in Northern Bruce Peninsula ended successfully.

The 75-year-old man was reported missing from his residence on Borchardt Road around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police were told he had left for a walk at 2 p.m. and did not return.

Bruce Peninsula OPP called in assistance from the Emergency Response Team, an OPP K-9 unit, officers from neighbouring OPP detachments, and Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department.

At 10:30 p.m., the missing man was found in the bush by ERT members, about half a kilometre from his residence. He was disoriented but in good health.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
