Large fire in Grey County results in charges

A patrolling Grey County OPP officer spotted a large fire Saturday on Highway 21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, and upon further investigation, found a couch and other debris being burned by the homeowner.

The Inter-Township fire Department was called in about 11:30 p.m. to extinguish the fire which was approximately 12 feet in diameter and 15 feet high

A 29-year-old man was charged under the Township of Georgian Bluffs By-Law for Burn Unacceptable Materials and for Fail to Have Equipment and Resources Available at Burning Site. Each offence holds a total set fine of $125.

Residents are urged to contact their local municipality and or their local fire department for regulations governing large open burns.
