Thieves are cleaning out cash boxes at a number of local car washes.

Overnight on Thursday, Grey County OPP said suspects forcibly entered the Chatsworth Car Wash and pried open the key box to steal cash.

On Friday, OPP responded to an alarm at the Double Bubble Car Wash located on Walker Street in Markdale to find that the business had been forcibly entered. Police said the culprits damaged the alarm system and take the video recording device before fleeing the scene.

Then overnight Friday, someone broke into the Sunrise Carwash on 17th Street East in Owen Sound and used a cutting tool to get into the change machine and clean it out.

South Bruce OPP officers responded to Sal’s Suds Car Wash on Brock Street in Tara at about 3:22 a.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to a motion alarm and found someone had attempted to enter through a window, but the alarm scared them away.
