Milestone for United Way Perth-Huron

United Way Perth-Huron has hit a new fund-raising record.

Executive Director Ryan Erb said they surpassed their goal of $1.465 million with the latest campaign.

Their final tally of $1.51 million is the largest single fund-raising total they've ever had.

"We're absolutely thrilled with the response from the community. Not only did we exceed the goal and bring in just over $1.51 million this year, but it's the greatest single fund-raising amount that we've ever had," he said.

Erb said the additional money will allow them to start new programs and expand some others.

"One of the things that we spend a lot of time doing is understanding the needs in our community before we get started," said Erb. "So the United Way works really hard with volunteers, organizations, to really hone in on what are the greatest problems that we're facing and then design strategies in collaboration with other organizations in order to move forward."
