South Huron to investigate policing options

South Huron council has passed a motion asking staff to approach the City of Stratford about providing policing for South Huron.

Councillor Ted Oke presented the motion and said that the cost to South Huron for OPP policing is almost $2 million and there is a possibility that the OPP detachment office in Exeter could be closed in the future.

Staff will be asked to approach Stratford to see if there was any interest in providing policing for South Huron, and what it might cost. A report is to come back to council within 30 days.

The Stratford Police Service already provides policing for Perth South.
