Mayor sings praises of local golf hero

The entire community of Listowel is still celebrating the big win by local golf hero Corey Conners at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday, and that includes North Perth Council.

Mayor Todd Kasenburg says Conners’ win is extremely special to the whole municipality.

“You know, it’s been smiles around here all day, we’ve had coffee shop conversations happening, people high fiving each other. We’re just very excited for him and for his wife, his family, the community.”

Mayor Kasenburg says council feels it’s appropriate to let Corey know how proud the municipality is of his accomplishment.

“I’m delighted that staff know how to reach him, and so as a consequence yes we are going to send him a fan note, a love note if you will, wishing him the best as he comes up on the Masters tournament this weekend.”

The Mayor says council is aware that there are whispers of the public wishing to organize a tribute event for Corey, and he certainly endorses the idea.
