West Perth woman succumbs to injuries after Mitchell crash

A two-vehicle collision in Mitchell has claimed the life of an elderly woman from West Perth.

The crash last Wednesday morning involved a pickup truck and a transport truck. It happened at the intersection of Highway 23 and Frances Street in Mitchell.

90-year-old Klazina Groenestege succumbed to her injuries in hospital in London. She was a passenger in the pickup truck.  The driver of the pickup truck remains in serious condition.

The driver of the transport was not injured.

West Perth OPP officers are still investigating.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
