Ribbon cutting planned for Palmerston Child Care Centre

A grand opening is set to celebrate a new child care centre in the town of Palmerston.

Officials from the Upper Grand District School Board, the Ministry of Education, and the County of Wellington will officially cut the ribbon at the Palmerston Child Care and Learning Centre on April 17.

"Child care is becoming an increasingly integrated system. We were pleased to work together with the County to help meet the needs of our families,” said Linda Busuttil, chair of the GDSB.

The Ministry of Education provided $1.54 million in capital funding for the project back in 2015.

The new child care centre will provide 49 new child care spaces for infants, toddlers and preschool aged children.

The centre opened in October 2018 and is operated by the County of Wellington.

Next Wednesday's ceremony starts at 3:30 p.m. at the centre at 530 Prospect Street.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to expand much needed high-quality licensed child care spaces in Palmerston for county residents," said Luisa Artuso, director of Early Years Division, County of Wellington.
