Fentanyl Seized in Port Elgin contained Carfentanil and Meth

Saugeen Shores Police have received confirmation that purple fentanyl seized in February contained Heroin, Fentanyl, Carfentanil and methamphetamine.

Carfentanil is one of the most potent opioids known. It is 10 thousand times more toxic than morphine, and 100 times more toxic than fentanyl.

On February 20th 2019, and February 28th 2019 Saugeen Shores Police were involved in separate drug-related investigations. In both cases, drugs were seized, and numerous charges initiated against a 35-year-old woman and 58-year-old man. As part of the continuing investigation, the seized drugs were sent to Health Canada for analysis, and police received the results this week.

If you or someone you know is using opioids, make sure to carry naloxone with you. Naloxone is used to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. It is available without a prescription and can be picked up at most pharmacies or the Health Unit.
