Grey and Bruce Food Hubs planned

A series of meetings have been planned for next month to discuss the creation of Food Hubs in Grey and Bruce counties.

These meetings are hosted by the Food Security Action Group of The Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force.

They are designed to bring community organizations, municipal leaders, food producers and community members to the table to address food insecurity issues in their respective communities.

Meetings will take place in Dundalk, Wiarton, Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and the Town of the Blue Mountains.

It's estimated about 11 per cent of households in Grey and Bruce counties experience food insecurity, but only 1 in 5 of those affected households are accessing traditional food charities.
