Parts of local waterfront trail closed due to weather damage

Some of the North Shore Trail in the Town of Saugeen Shores is closed due to heavy erosion from heavy rain and wind.

Scheduled maintenance of the waterfront is underway and two sections of the North Shore Trail are going to remain closed while the damage is repaired. There is no timetable for when those sections will reopen, as the damage is fairly significant.

There have also been reports of debris and fallen fencing and posts along the trail and waterfront, as well as damage to the Port Elgin Main Beach dunes and dune grass.
