Changing ecosystem of Sauble Beach discussed in Saturday presentation

The ever-changing natural ecosystem of Sauble Beach will be the subject of a public seminar this Saturday.

Erinn Lawrie, executive director of the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation, will speak on beaches, dunes and coastal wetlands.

The Friends of Sauble Beach presentation is at the Sauble Beach Community School Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. The school is located at the corner of Sixth Street North and the Sauble Parkway.

"Erinn's presentation is particularly interesting in light of the high water levels and subsequent changes to the beach this year," said Kathy Strachan, chair of Friends of Sauble Beach. "In times of high water levels in the lake, our famous sand dunes take on a new importance for flood control and sand capture and storage for low water years."
