BGCDSB releases 2019-2020 budget highlights

The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board has approved its proposed budget for the 2019-2020 school year.

The budget document highlights an increase in enrolment at both the elementary and secondary school level of 1.1 percent over the previous budget period.  And the board's overall school capacity is at 106 per cent.

Total Capital Expenditures are listed as $11,427,519.

The most significant contributors include: - Eight-classroom and four-room childcare addition at St. Anthony’s Catholic School, Kincardine - Two-room childcare addition at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, Walkerton

- Projects for the upcoming year include replacement of HVAC units, brick repair and replacement, roofing repair, and elevator replacement - Board-wide information technology initiatives (broadband, security enhancements, network consolidation, replacement devices) - Installation of eight new portables (St. Mary’s High School, Owen Sound, Notre Dame Catholic School, Owen Sound, St. Basil’s Catholic School, Owen Sound) - Continuation with multi-year roofing upgrades at St. Mary’s High School, OwenSound, Notre Dame Catholic School, Owen Sound and Catholic Education Centre, Hanover.

The budget document also shows that shared transportation and purchasing services with the Bluewater District School Board resulting in substantial efficiencies for both boards.
