Two people dead after vehicle hit by train

Two people are dead after a vehicle was hit by a train in Innerkip.

The crash happened Sunday afternoon just before 3 p.m.

Police said the train was heading west when it hit the vehicle that was travelling west on a road in the southeast part of the town.

The 27-year old driver, who has been identified as Cole Bey of Kitchener, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, 26-year old Raymond Friolet of Kitchener, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries.

Police are still investigating.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
