Further charges laid against man already in custody on weapons charges

A Port Elgin man arrested last weekend on weapons charges is now facing further charges following further investigation.

On June 30th, a 29-year-old Port Elgin man was taken into custody by Saugeen Shores Police following a weapons investigation that saw a number of prohibited guns and ammunition seized. One of the weapons is question, a 7.62mm FN FAL rifle, is a prohibited weapon and is specifically designed for military use.

As a result, three more charges have been laid against the accused, who continues to be held for a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
