Pickup crash in Mapleton leads to meth seizure

Drug possession charges have been laid against the occupants of a pickup truck that crashed in a ditch in the Township of Mapleton early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to the collision along Wellington Road 86 just before 3 a.m. The two occupants were not injured.

An investigation determined the pickup had been involved in several traffic-related incidents in a neighbouring county earlier that morning where the driver failed to stop for police. The driver and passenger were taken into custody.

Officers located a small amount of methamphetamine inside the vehicle during a search.

A 27-year-old North Perth man was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

A 19-year-old female from Guelph was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, and failing to comply with the officer in charge of an undertaking.  She was turned over to another policing jurisdiction on the strength of an outstanding warrant.
