OPP K9 tracks fleeing motorist in Huron

Huron County OPP officers, along with the Emergency Response Team and the K9, responded after a suspect in a speeding vehicle fled on foot.

It all started at about 1 p.m. on Thursday when a Perth County OPP officer saw a black sedan speeding west along Line 42 in West Perth. The sedan then hit a stopped SUV, then continued south on Road 180.

The sedan was damaged due to the collision and the driver abandoned it on Road 180 and fled on foot into Huron County.

A female, the lone occupant of the sedan was located uninjured by ERT and K9 a short distance away. She was arrested and charged.

Police have charged an 18-year-old woman from Huron East with flight from police, and possession of fentanyl.

The driver was also charged for several infractions under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The woman was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on Friday.
