Some South Bruce Grey hospitals change to private lab services

A private community laboratory will take over lab testing for the South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s Chesley, Durham and Walkerton sites.

The transition to Dynacare is part of the hospital's Budget Recovery Action Plan to overcome a significant financial challenge.

The hospital receives no funding for outpatient lab testing, but the private lab is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Starting Monday, July 15, patients will no longer need to register at the hospital for blood work but can bring their requisition right to the Community Lab Collections room to have samples collected.

Laboratory testing for inpatients and emergency patients will remain in the hospital. SBGHC Laboratory staff will continue to collect samples from patients, which will be sent to Dynacare for processing.

The hours of operation for Community Laboratory Collections will remain the same as the current Laboratory hours: SBGHC Chesley – 8:00 AM-1:30 PM Monday to Friday SBGHC Durham – 8:00 AM-2:30 PM Monday to Friday SBGHC Walkerton – 8:00 AM-2:30 PM Monday to Friday
