DNA evidence links found human remains to 2011 missing person case

Grey County OPP have confirmed remains found in 2017 are that of a man reported missing in 2011.

In November of 2011, Grey County OPP received a complaint of a missing 65-year-old male, John Patterson, who was believed to be in the Meaford area. A van belonging to the missing male was located by OPP officers in the area of Kiowana Beach, north of Meaford. In November of 2017, police received a report of human remains on the shoreline of Georgian Beach Road North in the Municipality of Meaford. Days later it was confirmed the remains were a human foot.

On May 29th of this year, forensic and DNA tests confirmed the found human remains matched the DNA of John Patterson. Police say no foul play is suspected.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
