OPP cracking down on stunt drivers

OPP West Region officers have been busy dealing with stunt drivers since the start of summer.

Since June 21, officers have charged 149 drivers with travelling more than 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.

Stunt drivers can face penalties of six demerit points, an immediate seven day licence suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment, a one year licence suspension, a minimum fine of $2,000, jail up to six month, and a 100 per cent insurance increase.

West Region OPP covers southwestern Ontario, including Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, midwestern Ontario, and London-Middlesex.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
