Stratford schools come together for 2019-2020 school year

The two public high schools in Stratford will have a new name for the new school year this fall.

Because of a major renovation at Stratford Central, Stratford Northwestern will be home to all students in Grades 7 to 12 for the 2019-2020 school year.

The school will be called "Stratford Secondary and Elementary Schools" for this unique transition year.

Construction at Stratford Central began on June 21st, with a completion date of September 2020.

The Avon Maitland District School Board is waiting for ministry approval before announcing a decision on the future of the two schools.

"This transition year will be unique and full of opportunities for students and staff," said Principal Kevin Mills. "We are excited about welcoming Stratford Central students to Northwestern and we hope that a generic name for this upcoming school year, will help students and staff feel more welcome."
