Local business lends helping hand to Ryan O'Reilly Stanley Cup Jumpstart fundraiser

As Huron County gets ready for Ryan O'Reilly's Stanley Cup homecoming tomorrow, a local Canadian Tire is getting involved with O'Reilly's charitable effort for the event.

Shawn Telfour, the owner of the Goderich Canadian Tire, will be kicking in $9090 in donations with Canadian Tire Corporate to O'Reilly's Jumpstart fundraiser. Telfour says it's Canadian Tire's main corporate charity.

"It's a fantastic charity that gets kids involved in sports that may not have had an opportunity to do so, so it's an amazing charity that gets kids into different sports and help get them motivated along the way."

O'Reilly is selling commemorative t-shirts and he will match dollar for dollar all the proceeds raised to Jumpstart programs locally. The Ryan O'Reilly Stanley Cup celebrations take place tomorrow in Goderich and Seaforth. The $9090 from Canadian Tire is in honour of O'Reilly's number 90 jersey. Telfour says that they were inspired by O'Reilly and his love for Huron County.

"With Ryan's amazing gesture to match all the t-shirt sales and come up with this huge donation was definitely inspiring, and we wanted to do our part as well."

Fans can come out and take pictures with Ryan and the Cup all morning and into the afternoon tomorrow, and Telfour adds that it was a no-brainer to help out a great Huron County representative like O'Reilly.

"Oh he's an amazing individual in terms of what he's contributed to the community, him and his family have contributed to the community through the years through the hospital and now the Jumpstart program. He's just a fantastic ambassador for Huron County."

Telfour notes that if you want to donate to Jumpstart they accept donations in-store and online, and if you want to apply for Jumpstart funding for your child you can do that in-store and online, too.
