Perth Wellington Federal NDP set to name candidate

The Perth Wellington federal NDP riding association will officially nominate a candidate.

Long-time member Geoff Krauter will accept the job at a meeting at the Spruce Lodge at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in Stratford.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent the NDP in this critical election, and to stand behind Jagmeet Singh's commitments to Canadians. New Democrats have the only credible plan to face the climate emergency: a New Deal for the environment and for working people," he explained.

Riding Spokesperson Sharon Collingwood said Krauter has been a social activist and a member of the NDP for the past 17 years. He was born in Toronto in 1985 and grew up in Markham. He served as Campaign Manager for both provincial and federal elections for the NDP in Markham, as well as being a dedicated volunteer for both the Canadian Cancer Society and The March of Dimes. Geoff was also a member of the municipal outreach team of Fair Trade Ottawa in 2011-12.

He is an honours graduate in Political Science from the University of Guelph and was a member of the Board of the Guelph Campus Co-op for five years.
