West Grey police plan strong long weekend presence

West Grey police are warning travellers to expect a strong police presence during the civic holiday long weekend. A civic long weekend traffic enforcement blitz is underway until August 5, 2019.

Members of the West Grey Police Service will be conducting patrols and RIDE programs in anticipation of increased traffic on  roadways and trails systems

Police will be utilizing off-road vehicles, marked and unmarked police vehicles in an effort to reduce impaired driving and to ensure compliance with a variety of federal and provincial laws.

During the weekend blitz, officers will be focused particularly on those breaking traffic laws related to  Impaired driving by fatigue, drugs or alcohol, distracted driving, seatbelts, speeding and aggressive driving.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
