MVCA issues lengthy flood warning

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the Port Albert area.

Due to Lake Huron water levels being near the long-term record high, small waves can cause sand to accumulate at the mouth of the Nine Mile River and obstruct river flow. This can cause flooding to occur rapidly.

The MVCA also say that due to the sporadic nature of these events, the flood watch will remain in effect until December 1st, or until conditions change significantly enough to warrant further updates.
