Youth assaulted with weapon in Saugeen Shores

Saugeen Shores police have charged a 19-year-old man after a youth was assaulted at a house party on Friday.

Police said a 15-year-old male youth was invited to a house party in Port Elgin by a 19-year-old acquaintance. Once at the party the man confronted the youth concerning a previous disagreement.

Without warning the man allegedly pointed an Airsoft sniper rifle and fired it at the youth striking him on the calf causing bruising. The man allegedly continued to threaten the youth and physically assaulted him as he tried to leave. The youth finally broke free and fled to his residence and called the police.

Officers arrived at the party a short time later and located the man. He was arrested and transported to the station.

A 19-year-old Port Elgin man has been charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and assault.

An Airsoft rifle is low-velocity and is primarily used in mock combat with participants wearing appropriate protective gear. A projectile from an Airsoft has the potential to cause bodily harm if proper safety equipment is not utilized.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
