Owen Sound police arrest armed man

Owen Sound police officers credit alert citizens for the arrest of a man allegedly carrying a weapon concealed in his waistband.

Police responded to reports of an armed man with a concealed gun at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday on 10th Street East near 3rd Avenue East, where information from another citizen helped officers locate and safely take a suspect into custody.

Officers allege that the man was in possession of a BB gun that closely resembled a real handgun, which was concealed in his waistband. He was also allegedly carrying a small quantity of suspected Fentanyl.

A 30-year-old Owen Sound male has been charged with weapons dangerous, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of fentanyl, breaching four weapons prohibitions and breaching two probation orders.

He will appear in bail court in Owen Sound on August 13, 2019.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
